What do we consider for publication?
Our focus: We publish articles, essays, and book reviews.
First to publish: JCJL does not publish manuscripts that have been published elsewhere or are under contract elsewhere.
Exclusive review: Submission to JCJL is exclusive and the journal will not consider a submission being considered in any other academic or professional journal or other outlet.
What do I submit for an Article or Essay manuscript?
What: A submitted manuscript should include the following, in this order:
The cover page. This page should only provide the title of article with an abstract, maximum 150 words, and a list of keywords.
The secondary title page. This should list the name(s) of author(s), affiliations, and contact information of the lead author.
Standard sections of a manuscript (by any title), such as introduction, literature review, method, findings, discussion. Authors are encouraged to theme the headings rather than use “Introduction,” and “Literature Review.” The headings of “Methods,” “Findings” or “Analysis,” and “Discussion” or “Conclusions” are acceptable headings. For an essay manuscript, authors are also encouraged to use headings to structure the writing.
All submissions must have a reference section in which all works cited are listed in the appropriate alphabetical order. Only works cited are to be listed in reference section. Under the “Sources Cited” heading, authors should use subheads, such as “Articles,” “Statutes,” “Constitutional,” and “Cases." Article and essay submissions should include an Author Biography. An author may also include an acknowledgment statement.
A manuscript should follow either the style guidelines of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association or Bluebook legal citation style. For guidance, see the “Citations” section of this site.
What do I submit for a Book Review Manuscript?
Book reviews should be titled as follows:
BOOK REVIEW: “Name of the Book,” by [author of the book].
At some point early in the review, the author should note the book title, author(s) name(s), and the name of the publisher.
Submit editorials and book reviews directly to the Editor at the following email address: [email protected].
